First Post! Here's My Rockabilly 50's Pin Up Apron!

Hello all and welcome to my first post!

I thought I would kick off the new blog by showing you all my attempt at a rockabilly 50's pin up style apron that I made recently for my mum.

It started with a phone call a few months ago with my mum, who turns 43 tomorrow (happy birthday mother!). She mentioned that she would love a 50's style glamorous apron as she spends more time in the kitchen baking than doing anything else :D. Then we carried on babbling on and I forgot about the conversation until 3 weeks ago when it dawned on me that it was my mums birthday and I needed to get her something soon. Then a lightbulb moment occurred and I remembered our previous conversation a few months back and that was it! I was going to make her that apron she dreamed about :).

So off I pop to Leicester market to seek out some cute and fitting material that would complement a rockabilly style apron. I find that cherries and polka dots are synonymous with all things rockabilly so I was all set.

I then set about finding a pattern online but to no avail. I could only find people selling their own aprons which I appreciate but I wanted this apron to be special and made by myself, and I love a challenge! So I decided to create my own pattern! I googled some pictures of similar aprons I had in mind and got an idea of the shape my apron should be and adjusted it to my mums body shape. There was a lot of trial and error and it was quite a challenge but I loved making it and here is me very badly modelling the finished product.

I'm very pleased with how the apron turned out but I know I need more practice (practice makes perfect was one of my mums many quotes while growing up) so I look forward to making more in the future playing around with different prints and colours to create one off unique aprons. I think this apron is just what a woman needs to feel amazing while cooking up a storm in the kitchen :)

Thanks for looking!
